ITINERARY

Hoi An, on Thu Bon river was for centuries a very important trading port in Central Vietnam. Evidence of this can be seen in the town’s old quarter where architecture shows many cultural influences. The river eventually became impassable to large boats and the town evolved to become the relaxed place you see today. This journey showcases Hoi An river culture, villages, and the beauty of the setting sun on the waterways. We depart Hoi An’s old town for a relaxing journey up the Thu Bon on a refurbished wooden fishing boat.

Heading up stream our first site for the day are local fishing villages where we watch the fleet of well-worn deep water boats prepare for their evening journey. Heading still furtherinland we drop anchor on a quiet section of the river to relax and soak up the views before jumping in our kayaks and explore the area more intimately.

The kayaks are stowed and we continue to explore the river, arriving at a weaving village where the local artisans craft traditional rattan mats. By now your appetite should be stirring and we now get to enjoy a cooking demonstration before sitting down together to enjoy this delicious meal prepared wholly on board. After lunch, we explore the peaceful local countryside by mountain bike, riding to a village famous for wood carving and boat building. Your boat will be waiting for you when we arrive and after exploring the village, we jump back on the boat and return to Hoi An.

As the sun starts to set for the evening, it casts an incredible orange glow over the, mountain ranges, rice paddies and waterways. It is a stunning way to finish your afternoon of exploration on the beautiful Thu Bon River.

Tour starts at 9am and finishes approx. 5pm. Tour operates daily. Guaranteed tour departure with groups of 2 or more.
